Why do I get email copies of all my classmates' and professor's posts from Moodle?

On Moodle, when discussion forums are setup, there are several options regarding subscription. A user can:
1. be always subscribed
2. be never subscribed
3. have the option of subscribing or not

Subscription means that posts in specified discussion forums are automatically sent to your email. Subscription settings are determined by your FIC.

By default, all students are subscribed to the News Forum. This is reserved for important announcements. Posting here means that all your classmates will receive a copy via email. News Forums are created automatically when a course site is opened.

For additional forums created by your FIC, you are usually subscribed at the beginning, and then you can login and unsubscribe, if you wish. Click on the particular Forum, and look for the option to UNSUBSCRIBE.

If the Forum is set to forced subscription and you do not want this, please discuss the issue with your FIC. There may be a reason for why your FIC wants everyone to be subscribed. If the class finds that too many forums are set at automatic subscription then give this feedback to the FIC so that he/she can change the setup.

Another possibility: For every discussion post that you make, you are given the option of getting an email alert if there are responses to it. (You will find this at the bottom of the screen). Do not select this option if you do not want an email copy of answers to your posts.

New rules for use of the Philippine eLibrary

Enrolled UPOU students who have paid their library fees may access the Philippine e-library (http://www.elib.gov.ph) by requesting a unique userID and password via email from the UPOU Library (library@upou.net).

Graduate students are entitled to a maximum of 60 pages download while undergraduate students are entitled to a maximum of 40 pages download for Philippine materials. There is no fee for downloading full text and printing of abstract from EBSCO databases.

A unique userID/password is valid for 2 months. The whole value is consumed if 20 pages are downloaded at an instance. Upon consumption of the first set of userID/password issued, a student may again request for a new set, which will be valid for the next two months. Take note, however, that graduate students can only request for a userID and password 3 times per semester, while undergraduate students can only request 2 times per semester.

New Moodle Login Site

We have completed the shift to http://myportal.upou.edu.ph/ the new homepage of MyPortal/Moodle. This site is faster and more reliable than our earlier site (http://myportal.upou.net).

In the process of migrating from one site to the other, it is possible that not all user data were moved. For students, in case you have any problems logging in, either create a new user account or contact Techsupport. For the faculty, please contact Techsupport since we want to make sure that you have access to your existing course site.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the downtime over the past two days. But we hope you will find the wait worth it.
